Meet Progress Lighting: Inspired, Trend-Setting Lighting for Your New Home

February 26, 2020

Decorative lighting is one of the most impactful upgrades you can make to your new home.  Not only does decorative lighting add beauty and style to your space, but it's also a way to define and reflect your family's personality.

Lighting is more than just a way to make your home brighter; it's a way to make your space memorable to those who live in it and guests who visit. Whether inspired by a current design trend, a favorite memory or even the latest technology, each piece of Progress Lighting has a story to share.

Lifestyle trends are one of the backbones of our product development team's inspiration. While there are some tried-and-true favorite trends, recently, we've seen some of these undergo a design evolution, and we were there to incorporate these trends into Schumacher’s latest designs, like we did with the Cinq Collection in the Charleston Earnhardt.

Traditional decor has a new take on classic silhouettes and vintage charm as the look evolves with approachable and fun touches. The Maudlin pendant checks the box for both New Traditional design and an updated vintage look, which is another hot trend in lighting and interior design. Its geometric frames and clear seeded glass panes play off a classic diamond pattern to showcase a modern twist on age-old classics.

Mountain decor, usually considered to be rustic and cabin-like, has grown into a clean and uncluttered, contemporary look. At Schumacher Homes, their Earnhardt Collection™ fits this description perfectly. With open layouts and tall ceilings, Earnhardt style homes are highlighted by sweeping views that command attention.  Lighting is oversized, with airy designs that cast light without obstructing views from the plentiful windows. The Latrobe pendant, with its clear glass globes, fits the bill as they extend illumination without detracting from the scenery outside.   On the other end of the spectrum, the Torres collection recalls its mountain inspiration with black, hammered spires that are reminiscent of rugged forest surroundings, in an open-cage design that offers a modern cabin vibe.

Glass in lighting is trending in a few different ways. Gone are the days of frosted-or-clear-glass-only globe choices; now, you can have both. The Kene chandelier is defined by quiet etched glass diffusers surrounded by clear outer glass shades for a soft, luxurious touch. Artisan glass, with a free-form, handcrafted look, is also popular, and the Cumberland pendant, pictured to the right, exemplifies this with its signature, one-of-a-kind seeded glass panes. And Cumberland's attractive frame is a charming interpretation of a tic-tac-toe game, befitting the new geometric trend of combining several shapes within one fixture.

These are just a few of the stories behind some of our new lighting designs. Next time we’ll explore more design trends in lighting, plus share a special story of the personal inspiration behind the design of our new Medal pendant.
